Every week we bring you a song that has been lighting up our world like nobody else. A song that flicks its hair in such a way that we feel overwhelmed. This week, it’s my birthday, so it’s a birthday themed song(s) of the week.
Everybody has certain songs that take them back to a particular time and place. This week’s songs of the week were massive tunes that were being played in the clubs around the time of my 18th birthday. Pretty much every time I hear them, they remind me of the night of my first legal clubbing experience. Fond memories.
In a world before Swedish House Mafia existed, Steve Angello was definitely best known for this reworking of the club classic. It took the original and married it to the unmistakeable bassline from their track Be, and thus brought the classic to a new generation of clubbers. It definitely was an unavoidable tune across dancefloors in 2009, and is a certified banger.
We were never really fans of the Scherzo before she embarked upon her solo career. However we adore this song so much and part of this is because of the memories it brings. We’ve still not seen Slumdog Millionaire. Are we missing out? How fit does Scherzo look in the video? Everything about this is literally incredible. It rightly smashed in territories such as Finland, Australia, Turkey, Ireland, and Lebanon, where it reached the top spot. Sadly, here in the UK it only managed #3.
