NEW: Broken

Daley – Broken

Best known for last year’s funky (and Jessie J featuring) retread of Blue Boy’s ‘Remember Me‘, Daley – the Manchester-hailing male popstar with massive hair – returns with ‘Broken’. And what a glorious return it is.

Reminding us of Aiden Grimshaw stylistically, ‘Broken’ is a sublime, sophisticated tune which sounds more mature than Daley’s 23 years of age. With intelligent lyrics beautifully delivered on top of a building beat and some gorgeous strings, this is what Popfoolish feels like. In fact we’re not afraid to go out on a limb and say that this is exactly the sort of music that deserves the hype (and then some) that someone like John Newman has been receiving. It sounds fresh, different, and exciting, and to be honest we can’t heap enough praise on it. We have a sneaky feeling this will end up being one of our favourite 2013 releases. Rating: 20/10 and an official Popfools seal of approval.
