April Playlist

Mura Masa feat. Charli XCX – 1 Night

Both of these artists can do no wrong right now, Charli adding some stardust to this song via her amazing “popstar in a gymnasium” look and bringing her distinctive energetic vocals. We can not wait for Mura’s album ‘To Fall Out Of Love To’ to drop, due later this year.

Charli XCX feat. MØ – 3AM (Pull Up)

We said Charli can do no wrong right now, and we really meant it. This is an absolute smash hit banger of a popfoolish tune, and we think it just might be the best song thus released in 2017. Charli’s third album, a “party album” , is due to drop later this year, and based on the evidence of “Your Love” it’s going to be a stonker of a listen.

Lorde – Green Light

Any song with a lyric of “She thinks you love the beach, you’re such a damn liar” is clearly a contender for lyric of the year. We were never really here for Lorde first time round, but ‘Green Light’ is such an undeniable bop that we are now planning on stanning for her. Or at least seeing if sophomore album ‘Melodrama’, due this summer, holds up the high standard that ‘Green Light’ suggests.

Jennifer Lopez – Ain’t Your Mamma

Hat Goals

This one passed us by in its official release last year, which was not a surprise as it hit a peak of #182 on the UK charts. However, we have ALL the time in the world for videos like the one that J.Lo turned out for this song. Featuring different iconic types of women, from 50s housewife, through 60s sexy secretary, 70s factory worker, and 80s office worker, J.Lo turns out EVERY. SINGLE. LOOK. This woman is 47!!! Of course, we all know J.Lo loves a good old dancing in the street moment (see: Papi), and she duly provides this TOO, towards the end of the clip. We are in heaven.

Obligatory classic J.Lo dancing on the street in a big group scene

Calvin Harris feat. Frank Ocean and Migos

Calvin may be recruiting large number of collaborators lately, but we don’t care if the tunes he turns out are this good. Providing achingly laid-back chilled summer vibes, the sun even obligingly made an appearance this week in the UK, proving that ‘Slide’ is doubtless going to be a summer anthem of 2017.
